As a Montana native, I've spent most of my life growing up in the Helena area. After Graduating in 1997, I continued to draw and paint off and on. However, it wasn't until January of 2005, after an inspirational conversation at a New Year's party with some friends, that I decided to get back on track with my art. Since then I have used my God-given talent to complete dozens of original pieces, most of which reside in the homes of private collectors.
My love for nature is my greatest inspiration for the art I create. Spending hours in the field and stream, I observe and photograph everything from the smallest aquatic insects and flowers to the largest mammals and trees that inhabit the wilderness of Montana. Then, combining oils, acrylics, watercolors and pencil with my own photography and imagination, I strive to create paintings and drawings with amazing attention to detail and accuracy to capture the attention of all wild flora and fauna enthusiasts.

In addition to being a professional artist, Nick currently works full-time for Montana Fly Goods in Helena, MT, and has enjoyed many great years there as a retail salesman and fly tying instructor in the fly fishing industry.
Fly fishing for twenty-five years, tying flies for twenty-three years, teaching fly tying classes for the last seventeen, and working in the fly fishing retail business for over fourteen years of his life has allowed him to meet so many wonderful people. His love for fly fishing, combined with his artistic talent, has enabled him to originate many incredibly successful and innovative fly patterns over the years. He has tied flies for everything from Yellow Perch to Pacific Sailfish.
Fly anglers have fished his creations from Alaska to Patagonia, New Zealand to Ireland, and the photos of their catch make him feel as if he was with them on their amazing adventures. As a result of his fly tying talent, Nick signed on as a Professional Fly Designer for Umpqua in 2016. One of his patterns, Lulow's Mojo Minnow, was selected by Umpqua for sale in their 2017 Catalog. Be sure to ask for it in your local fly shop, and watch for more of his patterns to be available in the future.

When he's not creating his next piece of art, working in the fly shop, or originating another fly pattern, you might find Nick creating useful outdoor gear with paracord. Tying knots and assembling items to create everything from mini survival kits, to waterfowl and predator call lanyards, to E.D.C. gear, Nicks paracord merchandise can be purchased here and at the local Helena Farmers Market on Saturdays.
At home, you'll also find Nick blending up his original seasonings to spice up your next meal. His delicious flavors, inspired by man-kinds love for food cooked over a flame, are created in small batches to ensure freshness and taste. Whether you're smoking a beef brisket or pork ribs, or grilling a salmon fillet or vegetable kabobs, Nicks seasonings and barbeque rubs will take your meals to the next level.
