Nick Lulow Art Gallery
I spend hours upon hours in the field, each year, taking photos for
upcoming pieces. I truly feel that this type of research is incredibly
valuable and necessary to produce an accurate depiction of nature.
Many artists believe that setting up an easel and spending a few hours
painting/drawing "plein air" is the key to studying nature. However, I'd
much rather spend that time moving from place to place, photographing
everything I see, both on film and in memory. I tend to use my camera as
a "sketch pad", as well making sure to capture as much movement in my
subjects as possible. Then, after reviewing my photo, I'm able to construct
a series of sketches/drawings for my final composition, in the comforts of
my studio.
Below are some examples of nature, and the moments I've been fortunate
enough to capture on film. If you are interested in viewing more of my
photography, please visit my Contact US page and send me your
request. Thank you!
